Frequently Asked Questions
I've never done yoga before — where do I start?
Every class is an opportunity to learn - you don't need experience or flexibility to begin. Let the teacher know in your first class that you are a beginner - they will look our for you!
What if I can't do all the poses?
That's completely normal and expected. Yoga is not about perfect form it's about connecting to your body. Our teachers offer modifications throughout every class.
Do I need to be flexible or fit to join?
Not at all. Yoga meets you exactly where you are.
Where do I start?
It really depends on what you want out of your practice.
A nice place to start is with our half/half classes - Awaken, Flow to Yin (Align) - where you get a little taste of both and can see how it feels for you. Slow Flow is also a great option if you're wanting a gentler introduction to movement.
Yin Yoga itself is very accessible to most people too, since it's low impact and focused on deep stretching rather than strength or heat. A more meditative focus.
What to Bring to Class…
A yoga mat - we do have spares, but prefer to keep these for emergency and we do have great mats for sale
Water bottle
Comfortable clothing you can move in
A small towel, sarong or blanket - especially if you are burrowing a bolster or for warmer/active classes.
An open mind and a willingness to arrive as you are
Leave your shoes and devices in the shelves provided
Yoga During Pregnancy
Is yoga safe during pregnancy?
Yes - with the right guidance. Prenatal yoga is designed specifically to support your changing body, breath, and nervous system through each trimester. Before joining, please make sure you've been cleared for exercise by your care provider (GP, obstetrician, or midwife).
Which class should I choose?
This depends on your yoga experience, your intention for the practice (relaxation, strength, connection, birth preparation), and your current fitness level. All our teachers are qualified to modify safely for pregnancy - have a read through our class descriptions to find the best fit, or reach out and we're happy to guide you.
Can I start yoga for the first time while pregnant?
Absolutely. Many of our prenatal students are completely new to yoga. Our teachers will guide you with modifications suited to where you're at.
